In June, “COTES Engineering” was awarded a contract and commenced a modernization of CHP plant of AO “OTEK” branch in Seversk. In designing, a new digital information modeling technology (also known as BIM technology) will be used.
Digital Information Model (DIM) or Building Information Model (BIM) is a technology for creating and managing any object at all the stages: from project planning to operation. In addition to the 3D model, it can contain other layers of information and other “dimensions”, including information on the construction schedule, equipment supplied, technical calculations, estimated cost, etc. It helps partially implement automation of the entire construction team, facilitate operation, and reduce the number of collisions and problems during construction.
COTES will develop a digital information model (DIM) for the “As is”, “Project” and “Detailed design documentation” stages. The development and release of the model will be carried out simultaneously with the development of traditional design and estimate documentation.
The scope of upgrading includes the installation of two new turbines with generators, auxiliary and electrical equipment, also equipped with automatic control systems, and modernization of the 2nd stage boiler units, replacement of the electrical equipment of the main circuit of the CHP, and development of the automated process control system for all installable and upgradeable equipment.
At the moment, the project team is completing laser scanning of all existing CHP facilities, while simultaneously creating an “as is” model that can be used even now. Laser scanning of the site allows you to obtain a point cloud that reflects the current position of all objects, including utilities and architectural and structural elements. “As is” model is updated in real time, as new data is received. During this time, you can continue using it.
The completion of design work and DIM project is scheduled for the end of 2021.
