COTES has taken part in the meeting of Chief Power Engineers

COTES Engineering employees have visited the Tenth All-Russian Meeting of Chief Power Engineers. The event was held on March 11-12, 2021 in Sochi and was supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

Over 300 specialists in power industry met in a single site to discuss relevant issues of the industry and the ways to solve them as well as introduce new technologies and develop digital power energy. The meeting gathered chief engineers of heat power plants, technical specialists and heads of power energy companies, representatives of Minenergo and manufacturers of power equipment. COTES Engineering was represented by CEO, Dmitry Serant, and Lead Specialist of the Innovative Technologies Department, Polina Belyavskaya.

The main work was performed in working groups which were looking for the ways to improve efficiency of the Russian power industry, methods to accelerate digitalization of the industry and more efficient use of state investments. As a result, representatives of each group reported their solutions and proposals to the colleagues, which were discussed by all participants.

Dmitry Serant has shared his impressions: “It was a very interesting format, especially further discussions”. In particular, a series of interesting solutions was proposed to improve operational parameters for thermal power units in order to improve operations efficiency: improving steam parameters, implementing remote control, using variable frequency drives, black oil-free ignition for pulverized coal boilers, etc. These solutions were discussed vigorously and, which is very important, rationally. In particular, Mikhail Fedorov, Production Director of OOO “Gazprom Energoholding”, has provided an interesting useful criticism but still noted that the solutions related to liquidation of black oil utilities, and black oil free ignition are very interesting and directly related to the reduction in operational costs and improvement of plant operational efficiency”.

As a result of the event, a set of solutions has been developed which can be considered in the state energy policy in the future. Generally, the participants were happy by both format and event results and expressed their wish to take part in the meeting next year.
