COTES has been listed as a Skolkovo Project participant

COTES has received a status of the participant of a project on creation and provision of functioning of the Skolkovo Innovative Center.

At the end of the previous year, the expert panel of the fund assessed the ignition technology for pulverized coal boilers without highly reactive fuels. The assessment was made in seven key parameters. Thus, the technology was acknowledged to be competitive against world analogs and to have a commercialization potential.

The technology of ignition of pulverized coal boilers is based on intensification of electrochemical processes of a pre-flame flare zone. The condition of this zone determines the intensity of chemical reactions taking place in the flare in general and allows initiating ignition processes for low-reactive fuels at relatively low temperatures. Electrical ionization of a pre-flame zone is performed by exposure to constant and alternating electrical fields.

The competitive advantages of the technology include low solution cost, with payback period at least 1 year for international plants and 2.5 years for the Russian plants. The technology does not require complex (e.g. water) cooling systems, with the period between overhauls being over 2,000 hours. Moreover, important advantages include low consumption power (5-20 kW per device) and an option to integrate with existing plant systems (power supply, ACS).

The Skolkovo ecosystem allows project participants to choose the most efficient tools to promote their innovations. The Skolkovo participants may take part in acceleration programs for faster implementation of their technologies, get assistance in the development of a business model and in attraction of venture investments. Within the corporate acceleration, the Skolkovo Fund helps major industrial companies to make their solutions closer to real-life demands of the customers and, in future, integrate the obtained developments in business. Moreover, the project participants have a wide set of tools to enter global markets, including the participation in international business missions, and the support of participation in international exhibitions and conferences.
