CEO of COTES gave speech at the international conference in Belgorod

COTES Engineering took part in the international conference held by OOO Belenergomash-BZEM on February 26-27 in Belgorod. The conference, which was held for the second time, was devoted to modern heat recovery technologies in metallurgical, chemical and refining enterprises. The attendees from different countries, including Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan and Belarus discussed the options of retrofit, efficiency improvement and emissions reduction for power systems of industrial facilities.

CEO of COTES Engineering Dmitry Serant was one of the conference speakers. He presented the report titled “Implementation of the integrated projects for retrofit installation of boiler houses at thermal power plants and industrial facilities to increase the overall efficiency and reduce emissions”. Mr. D. Serant told about the experience of COTES in design and retrofit of boiler houses with improved efficiency, dependability and environmental friendliness.

The options of power equipment efficiency improvement include the use of modern burners for efficient combustion and decrease of the exit gas temperature (co-generation, turbine economizer). The dependability is affected by many factors: the quality of basic design documentation and computations, stability of steam, pressure and other parameters, and the quality of boiler equipment. The COTES’ experience shows that the use of soot blowers could considerably improve the dependability by excluding unnecessary shutdown of boiler equipment, increasing the boiler efficiency and reducing the operating costs.

Ecological matter is of special concern of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.”We shall drastically reduce the amount of waste coming to landfills, introduce the separate collection of waste, generally merge into a closed-loop economy and start applying the mechanism of the so-termed Extended Producers Responsibility right from 2021, when manufacturers and importers of industrial goods and packaging incur their disposal costs“, — the President said in the Address to the Federal Assembly in January, 2020. COTES has already experienced in implementation of the environmental monitoring systems in accordance with the requirements of Russian Nature Supervision Authority. Along with our partners we have a unique technology of 100 % disposal of soot and bottom ash.
